France had their first chance in the 8th minute. When Ousmane Dembele passed the ball to N’Golo Kante who swung a right-footed shot from a tight angle. But was saved by the Canadian goalkeeper.
19 minutes, the French had another chance. William Saliba passed the ball to Antoine Griezmann who tried a long shot from outside the penalty area. Although the ball went into the frame, it was still saved.
France continued to push forward and had a chance from a corner. Where Dayot Upamecano headed home after Jules Kounde’s header. But it was off target and the first half ended 0-0.

The second half.
Started with Canada almost getting a counter-attack. And ended with a shot by Liam Millar who got the ball in front of the penalty area before shooting. Which Mike Maignan had no chance to save, but unfortunately the ball hit the crossbar.
France struggled to find an opening but in the 55th minute, Giroud pressed until the Canadian goalkeeper made a mistake and Griezmann crossed to the far post. Dembele passed a low pass to the near post for Giroud to charge in but was blocked by Krepe, making it just a corner kick.
Entering the final 15 minutes, Deschamps had to send Kylian Mbappe and Kingsley Coman to help the offensive game and took off Ousmane Dembele and Marcus Thuram.
In the 77th minute, Canada almost had a chance to score when Tejon Buchanan broke free on the left and crossed for his teammate to shoot softly. But William Saliba managed to clear the ball away.
Mbappe created a goal chance himself in the 88th minute. When he received the ball on the left side of the penalty area before cutting inside and curling a right-footed shot that went over the bar.
